1996 John Deere 290D excavator that I bought from a John Deere dealer in 2000 as the second owner and has been operated either by myself or my son. It has 5561 hours on the meter and the machine has no leaks or issues. It’s been working in central New Jersey in clay, sand and loam. I’ve never used it in rock or shale and primarily used it for septics, basements, land clearing and a little demolition. The machine weighs 21,000 lbs. The bucket is a 1/2 yard 30 Geith brand with 5 John Deere teeth in excellent condition with recent new bushings and bucket pin. The stick is the longer 7′11 so the machine has no problem loading tandem dump trucks and digging average basement and septic depths. All pins and bushings on the boom are tight and were regularly greased. In some of the photos there is a mechanical thumb on the stick which has been removed and is not included. The engine is a 65 hp 4 cylinder John Deere diesel with plenty of power and low fuel consumption at 1.25 to 2.5 gallons per hour. The fuel tank is 66 gallons so a tank would last for days. Very economical machine to own and easy on a truck to move, it was always my go to machine when I didn’t need a large excavator, it could fit into difficult tight work sites and give big machine performance. Included is the owners manual which has all the maintenance information you’ll need. The item “John Deere 290D Excavator Operator Owned Low Ground Pressure” is in sale since Friday, May 13, 2016.
